This course reinforces components of MDE teacher preparation and InTasc standards. Students transfer theory to practice while student teaching. Students are required to earn a C+ or better in this course. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education, Student Teaching Application Approval; Co-requisite: EDU 458.

Preparation and participation in global teacher education field experience.  Course is repeatable up to 3 hours when content does not duplicate previous topics. 

Preparation for global pre-student teaching secondary field experience. Co-requisites: EDU 310, or 325, or 450, or 495.

Understanding and applying literacy engagement theory, practice, and assessments in K-12 classrooms. This course may be offered in an online format. Prerequisite: EDU 330.

Study and development of strategies to improve literacy (reading, writing, and thinking for learning) in various disciplines. Students are required to receive a C+ or better in this course. Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education; EDU 325 (completed with a C+ or better) or MUS 431 or MUS 433.

This course prepares teacher candidates to perform, analyze, and improve their instruction and student learning through collaboration in professional communities.  Students are required to receive a C+ or better in this course.  Prerequisites:  Successful completion of EDU 355 and EDU 450 with C+ or better; Co-requisites:  SPE 504; and subject-specific pre-student teaching capstone methods course: ENG 560 or GEO 400 or HPE 425 or HST 300 or MTH 460 or MUS 433 or PSC 305 or SCI 400 or TEL 502. 

This is the culminating experience where student teachers observe and gradually assume full teaching responsibilities under the supervision of a PK-12 cooperating teacher. CR/NC only. Prerequisite: Admission to teacher education, Student Teaching Application Approval; Co-requisite: EDU 432.

Methods and procedures of teaching PreK-12 students in asynchronous and synchronous classrooms. Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education; EDU 290; Elementary: EDU 320, 330, 343, 345; Secondary: EDU 325.

Theories, purposes, materials, and problems related to learning and the measurement and evaluation of learning. Includes a unit on mental health. Prerequisites: EDU 280 (students with a major in 'teachers of students with emotional impairment' or major in 'teachers of students with cognitive impairment' are required to have SPE 126 & PSY 220); and at least one of the following: EDU 320, 330. Requires admission to Teacher Education Program.

Examines historical events and social bases of American education. Major emphasis is on political, judicial, and legislative activities; social issues; and current policy affecting schools. Students are required to receive a C+ or better in this course. Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education.
