Why Study in Human Development and Family Studies?
Human Development and Family Studies prepares students to work with children, individuals, and families across the lifespan, in addition to preparing them for graduate studies in a variety of disciplines. Students will gain an appreciation of the complexity and diversity of individuals, families, and their relationships.
Human Development and Family Studies at CMU
Majors offered within the department of Human Development and Family Studies include: Child Development, Early Childhood Development and Learning, Family Studies, and two majors in Teaching Early Childhood and Early Special Education (for Birth-Kindergarten or Birth-Third Grade). Minors include: Child Development, Early Childhood Development, and Learning and Family Studies.
Transfer students seeking a major must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours at CMU. Transfer students seeking a minor must complete a minimum of 9 credit hours at CMU.
