Computational Mathematics and Analytics Minor, B.A.; B.S.
The Computational Mathematics and Analytics Minor teaches students the basics of data analysis, real-world modeling, and numerical techniques for solving mathematical and data-involved problems.
Admission Requirements, Retention & Termination Standards
This minor can be taken in conjunction with the Data Science Major, or in conjunction with the Mathematics Major (with or without a concentration). It cannot be taken as a stand-alone minor.
Program Requirements
Required Courses I (22 hours)
DAS 150QR | Introduction to Data Science | 3(2-2) |
DAS 251 | Data Visualizations and Programming using Tableau | 1(1-1) |
DAS 252 | Data Visualization and Programming using R/RStudio | 1(1-1) |
DAS 253 | Data Visualization and Programming using SAS | 1(1-1) |
DAS 350 | Exploratory Data Analytics | 3(2-2) |
DAS 450 | Applied Analytics I | 3(3-1) |
MTH 233 | Calculus III | 4(4-0) |
MTH 334 | Differential Equations | 3(3-0) |
MTH 438 | Numerical Analysis I | 3(3-0) |
Notes:
- If this minor is taken in conjunction with the Data Science BS, then MTH 223 must be taken as the linear algebra requirement in that major.
- MTH 233, 334, and 438 require MTH 132, 133, and 223; however, these are requirements in both the Mathematics BS and the Data Science BS already.
