Teaching English Language Arts Grades 7-12 Minor, B.S. in Ed., Standard Secondary Certificate

Admissions Requirements; Retention & Termination Standards

1. EDU 107 must be completed with a B or higher.
2. Students must adhere to the Teacher Candidate Dispositions set by the Educator Preparation Program.
3. A minimum cumulative average of a 2.8 is required for the student teaching clinical experience.
4. A minimum cumulative average of a 2.8 in the Teaching English Language Arts Grades 7-12 Minor is required for the pre-student teaching clinical experience.
5. A C+ or higher must be earned in the following courses: ENG 211WI, ENG 311, ENG 319, ENG 560.
6. Courses taken for credit toward a Teaching English Language Arts Grades 7-12 Minor may not be taken Credit/No Credit.
7. Up to two courses may be transferred for course credit on the Teaching English Language Arts Grades 7-12 Minor.
8. All required coursework for the Teaching English Language Arts Grades 7-12 Minor must be completed prior to student teaching,
9. Any repeated coursework for the Teaching English Language Arts Grades 7-12 Minor must be completed at CMU.
10. Independent study in English is restricted to six (6) hours for the Teaching English Language Arts Grades 7-12 Minor.
