Development of nonfiction writing for non-native English speakers. Students prepare a variety of texts by applying knowledge of composing processes, rhetorical strategies, and textual conventions. This course may be offered in an online format. Alternative to ENG 101 or ENG 103/198. Prerequisite: English Language Institute departmental approval.

Instruction and practice in developing speech communication and listening skills for non-native speakers of English. Alternate to COM 101. Credit may not be earned in more than one of these courses. Prerequisites: ELI Department approval.
