Accelerated Admissions to the Master of Arts in Sport Administration
Program Requirements
Note: This program is only offered to CMU currently enrolled undergraduate students.
Undergraduate students majoring in sport management may pursue a Master of Arts in Sport Administration (MA in SA) degree during the final year of their bachelor's degree program. The Accelerated MA in SA program allows students to reduce the total number of credits required to complete the combined undergraduate and master's degrees by applying 3 credit hours of program requirements towards both degrees. Thus, with advising and planning, it is possible for students to complete both degree requirements in 5 years.
To receive accelerated admission to the MA in Sports Administration program, students must submit both an application for admission to the MA in SA program and an Accelerated Graduate Degree Program: Acknowledgement & Approval Form. Students interested in the Accelerated program should schedule an appointment with the Director of the PES Department Graduate Program.
If you are admitted to an AMDP, your financial aid may be affected. Contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for information (989-774-3674) or cmuosfa@cmich.edu.
Admission Criteria
Admission: Students are encouraged to apply early in their junior year.
Applicants must:
- Submit an online admission application to be an Accelerated Graduate student.
- Complete and submit the Accelerated Graduate Degree Program (AGDP) Acknowledgement and Approval Form found on the Graduate Studies website.
- Submit two letters of recommendation and a statement of purpose for the graduate program.
If approved for admission, students must average a "B" or higher in the credits that apply to both the undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Students begin the AGDP coursework during year four. To enroll in the Accelerated MA in SA program, a student must complete the following prior to the fall semester for year 4: 1. A minimum of 86 credit hours toward a bachelor's degree with an overall cumulative GPA of at least 3. 0. 2. All 100, 200, and 300 level courses in the sport management major with the required minimum grade for each course.
During Year 4, students can complete up to 3 credits of MA in SA coursework that will count towards both their degrees.
