Health and Physical Education, Graduate Certificate
Minimum Totals for Graduation: 15 hours
The graduate certificate in Health and Physical Education leads to an endorsement to teach health and physical education in grades K-12. To receive the endorsement, one must already have completed or will complete a teaching certification program.
Admission Requirements, Retention & Termination Standards
Admission
To be considered for regular admission, an applicant must have:
- An earned bachelor's degree with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7.
- A valid K-12 teaching certificate.
Applicants who do not have a valid K-12 teaching certificate may be considered for admission with stipulation. Applicants seeking regular admission with stipulations will be required to submit a current professional resume and written statement identifying how the program will help them meet their career goals.
Students admitted to the program without a valid K-12 teaching certificate who wish to earn their initial teaching certificate will be required to complete a state approved teaching preparation program.
Retention and Termination
To gain approval to complete the clinical experience, each student must:
- successfully complete HPE 605, HPE 625, HPE 645, and HPE 665;
- have current CPR and First Aid Certification;
- have proficient professional disposition status within the HPE Division as indicated in the professional disposition documents provided in HPE 605.
