The Higher Education Administration program is designed for those seeking leadership positions in colleges and universities and accepts both full-time and part-time students.

  1. Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to Graduate Studies.
  2. Regular admission in the program requires an undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.7 (on a 4-point scale).

Accelerated Admissions to the M.A. in Higher Education Administration and Social Justice

Students may obtain an MA in Higher Education Administration and Social Justice by taking 12 credits of MAHESJ core courses (with an option of taking electives as well) as an undergraduate and completing the remaining coursework in one additional academic year after graduation. Students can only earn up to 50% of the MAHESJ degree as an undergraduate. 

Admissions Standards 

(Currently enrolled CMU undergraduate students only)

Student must have an overall cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.

To apply: 

  1. Submit a letter explaining interest in the program and a current resume to the MAHESJ program director (ceh@cmich.edu).
  2. Obtain written approval by the MAHESJ program director after letter of interest and current resume are submitted.
  3. Sign the AGDP Acknowledgement & Approval Form initiated by the graduate advisor.

Retention Standards

Student must maintain a 3.00 in MAHESJ courses. Students who fail to maintain a 3.00 GPA in MAHESJ courses in two successive semesters will be removed from the accelerated program.
